Kiara Thomas and her ‘Mysterious Creatures’

Kiara Thomas

Kiara Thomas’s artistic career started with her talented mumbo completing her drawing homework for her. Now she takes revenge on ex boyfriends by portraying their personalities on tee shirts.

Despite always being interested in art, Thomas dabbled in primary school teaching, studying it at uni. Her concepts and work always leant on the more creative side of education, as demonstrated by this short film that was handed in as an assignment, I’m still failing to see how this would have benefited the brains tender tots.

While learning the methods for molding the minds of minors, Thomas embarked on a brief clay course that made her adamant on cement and provoked her to enroll in university for sculpturing.

“I can’t stand clay sculptures any more” Says Thomas

So she shoved the clay, called it a day and reoffended with pad and pen.

Now, with a clear path well and truly ‘etched’ into her noggin, Thomas is simultaneously smashing out a degree and undertaking extra creative endeavours on the side. Currently, the turbo is working on some cut and paste projects, being commissioned for various tattoo designs and, even though it was a little unintended, selling her prints on tee shirts.

“I was working on a collection to have an exhibition at the end of the year but while I was drawing them, people kept buying them. Someone eventually suggested that I do tee shirts”

And that folks, is how the “Mysterious Creatures Series” found themselves appearing on boys and broads boobs all over.

The series focuses on individuals portrayed as half man half animal, all tattooed to the nines, oozing spunk (not semen).

The pictures alone are easy on the eyeball, but what puts these creatures on the top shelf of curious is the little unknown fact that all of the characters are based on boys that she dated and the quirks that although at first were adorable end up driving her mad.

Mr. Narcissist. So vein, he loves himself far too much and wants people to eat and train as hard as he does. He looks in the mirror and takes longer to get ready than you do.

Sex obsessed. He has a wondering eye and his negatives tend to outweigh the positives.

Sly. Always appears to be hiding something. At first, he gives the mysterious persona but that just leads to trust issues.

The gentlemen. Gets along with everyone and everyone loves them. He comes across as far too flirty with the females and always seems single.

The smothering lover. Makes plans for your future together, loves you more than you love them and falls in love way to quickly.

The party animal. Every night is boys night, his priorities are getting high and getting loose, then he acts like a total dick for the next week as he is on a permanent comedown.

Luckily, Thomas is adamant that none of the subjects know which (if any) are them, nor have any of them purchased one.

Despite the tee’s just being a little summin- summin to have a dabble in, they are proving quite popular.

“I had 25 tee shirts made thinking that over 6 months I would sell them and ended up selling them within 24 hours”

In addition to her pop-tops, Thomas is gaining quite the following on Instagram, which is apparently her main source of income and has also led to her being featured in the UK zine, Dead Pixel.
